New discovery…..

Today we went into Melbourne and discovered that ther is a new comic book that just open up.

All Stars Comic Books

This is a very cute comic book store, it’s not very big but they did only open in Feb this year. They have wall to wall of comic books and started to bring in vintage toys collectors and comic books to sell and buy.

Since the lunch in Feb, All Stars have had great reviews:

They are located on level 1, 410 Lonsdale street, melbourne.

The interesting thing about this store that on the outside it looks like apartments, but when you go in and go up to level 1 it’s there.

Once you got your comic books, go across the road for a pizza and beer at Niagra Bar, or as one of our friends calls it Viagra Bar. (Good Pizza and Good Price!)

Geek Pride Day!

Happy Geek Pride Day!

Now this is a holiday that I can be proud of….

How to celebrate this holiday is to be a geek. If you don’t know how to be one, here is a list of ideas you can do:

• Find your local comic book store, and find a comic book that opens your eyes. Find a comic book, that you will love to read. Some of my favourite comic books would be Batman, Sandman, The Spirit, Transmetropolitan, Green Lantian, Superman, Wonder Woman, and even Xmen. If want something that take a little longer than 5 mins to read, then get V for Vandentta, Watchmen, Sin City, but if you want Manga, Mega Toyko, or you dont want to leave the house try Cad-comics (http://www.cad-comic.com) These are most of the comic books in my house!

• Go to you local video/dvd store – science ficton moives are great! Have a sicence fiction marathon. Some of my favourites will be;  Aeon Flux, Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, Robocop, Star Trek (any star trek movie and yes there is more than one!), Stargate (the original with James Spacer), Tron, Terminator, Logan’s Run, Soilent Green, The Day the Earth Stood Still ( original is better!), War of the Worlds, Star Wars, Matrix, just to name a few. I got a book for Chirstmas with sci-fi films you must see ( 101 sc-fi film you must see before you die)

• Everyone should have some sort of game console, Wii, Xbox, Playstation. I have all 3, I still wonder why I do. Invite your friends around for a game or two. But if you dont want to play video games or dont have a console, you can always play board games. Once a month Justin and I host a board game night, some of our favourite are Scrabble, Bloderdash, Pictionary Man, tipayatounge. They are loads of fun.

• Last one, go out to some where education and fun, like the Muesum or to Art Gallary, or even Imax. Here in Melboure we have Scince Works, which is loads of fun, (science works)

Supanova: Australia answer to Comicon!

A week ago, Justin and I went with a couple of our friends to Supanova.It was loads of fun, we got to see Spike from Buffy, and Karl Urban, and stayed the hell away from Twilight (evil, evil!)

There was lots of Cosplay players, and heaps of comic books. I was like a kid in a candy store:

All the Star Wars guys, they look great!

Batman was so tall, and I fell in love the HarleyQuin’s they pulled off the costumes so well!

Boy, oh boy…. Justin was a very happy man when her meet Silk Spectre.

The Mad Hatter, explain that he got into the movie for free dress like that, 3 times! Legend!

This dress as Thor, it too a while for him and I to explain to Justin who he was.

If you can’t think of anything to go as, wear a box!
